To help Meals For The Elderly by volunteering for any of the positions below, please contact Leann Criswell, Volunteer Director, at (325) 655-9200 or click here to send her an email. Our volunteers are the heartbeat of our organization. Volunteers deliver nutritious meals over the lunch hour to the homebound elderly, to individuals with disabilities, to the chronically ill and to the convalescent living in their own homes. Meals For The Elderly volunteers help brighten the day for our senior neighbors by showing concern, having friendly chats, and making sure that all is well. |

Corporate Volunteers Because you hold down a job from 8-5 does not mean you cannot fulfill a desire to volunteer in your community. Delivering meals on your lunch hour is practical for busy lives. It is minimum effort with a maximum impact. You are the link with the world outside the recipient's front door. Businesses with more than 10 employees can send one or two people on a route once every 5 or 10 times, giving everyone the opportunity to brighten someone's day! |
Our drivers come from all walks of life: homemakers, retirees, home schoolers with student children, parents and grandparents with children during holidays or summer vacation, local church members, youth and adult Sunday School classes, elementary and high school classes, youth groups, businesses, service groups, and working individuals on their lunch hours. Volunteers may deliver as often as they like with a permanent route assignment or as a substitute when the need arises. |
Driver Qualifications: a. A valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle b. Personal automobile insurance c. Patience and understanding with seniors and individuals with disabilities d. Agreement to a criminal background check e. Must be available to pick up meals by 11a.m. Drivers must call and let us know at least 24 hours in advance if they will be unable to deliver their route so that a replacement can be found. Orientation is required for all volunteers. Training provides volunteers with a brief history and guidelines for meal delivery. The purpose of orientation is to prepare volunteers for service and to screen for prospective volunteers going into clients' homes. Safety for everyone is our utmost concern. |
