Our 10th Annual Sporting Clay Shoot was our best yet, and here's why....
The 2015 Sporting Clay Shoot, sponsored by Hinson Bit Co., was held on June 6, 2015 at the San Angelo Claybird Association. We had a blast and challenged each and every shooter we hosted while providing a laid-back shoot everyone could enjoy!
Congratulations to our top shootersthis year! Brent Lewright shot an impressive 97 (of 100) on Red, Clay Bomer shot a 95 on Green, Terianna Bomer was our top female shooter with a score of 80, and Dakota Villarreal shot an 83 as our under 16 top youth shooter.
The red and green courses out at the San Angelo Claybird Association were filled with our 244 shooters who chose between two rounds to shoot: 8 am or 11am. The weather was hot, but breezy, creating an ideal environment for shooters and spectators alike. This year’s shooter package included one round of 100 targets, breakfast (served at 7am), lunch (served at 11:30am), and a 1 in 10 chance to win $500 cash or a $750 gift certificate to Field & Streams Sporting Goods (shooters were required to be present at drawing during Live Auction to win). We gave away 24 of these opportunities this year!! It truly does PAY to stick around. Registration was $165, but if registration was paid in full by May 15th, they paid only $150!
Remember to purchase some extra lunch tickets so you can bring the whole family next year! There will be plenty to do, as always, and a fabulous BBQ lunch not to be missed! Additional meal tickets are only $10, and that funds 3 meals for a senior in need. In 2015, music was played by KGKL & KKCN’s Chris Austin throughout the day. After lunch, our LIVE auction provided plenty of entertainment. Our auction always features one-of-a-kind items like gun accessories from Briley Manufacturing, Yeti Coolers, gorgeous knives, hunting gear, unique home decor, and just so much more.
J.T. Hinson won a Kimber pistol, Ricky Eaves a Smith & Wesson Rifle, and Jesus Alvarez won a Grizzly Cooler as part of our Gun Boards at the event. We also raffled off an amazing sporting 12 gauge- the Beretta A400 Xcel- sponsored in part by the Outdoorsman. This year’s lucky winner was Delbert Coalson, but next year it could be you! Be sure to get plenty of raffle tickets before the shoot. Tickets can be purchased through our office or by contacting a Meals For The Elderly board member in March 2016 or later.
In 2015, both our 8am and 11am rotations filled early, so take advantage of our advanced ticket discount and lock in your spot on our 8am or 11am rotation to make sure you have a spot! We raised almost $60,000 for the mission and work at Meals For The Elderly thanks to our generous supporters from across the state. We invite you all to join us again next year!
